"Becoming a member"

Eligibility for Membership

In order to become a member of the Blues and Twos Credit Union you must fall within our “Common Bond”.  To be eligible you must be:

An employee or retired member of the Lancashire or Cumbria

  • Police Service 
  • Fire and Rescue Service
  • Ambulance NHS Trust
  • County Council

Once you have joined close family members living at your address may also qualify.

Joining the Credit Union

If you are eligible to join you must first complete an application form which may either be downloaded from this website or obtained from our office. There is a £5 one off membership fee which is deducted from your first month’s savings.  This charge is to cover the intitial set-up admin process.

In common with all other financial organisations we are obliged by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) to obtain documentary proof of your identity and your current address. We would therefore ask that you produce one original document from each of the two categories listed below. Copies cannot be accepted. These can either by posted with your application form or produced in person at our office. 

IDENTIFICATION NEEDED TO OPEN AN ACCOUNT

Please provide one document from each section.

Documents to confirm your identity: originals documents only

  • Current signed passport
  • Current UK driving  licence or a blue disabled driver’s pass
  • Benefit book or original letter from Benefits Agency (eg. Pensions service, jobcentre Plus, Child Benefit office etc.)

Documents to confirm your home address: original documents only

  • Bills – recent utility or council tax bills
  • Official letters – UK solicitor confirming home purchase, Benefits Agency
  • Recent statements – bank, building society, credit union , mortgage
  • Other – council rent card, tenancy agreement

What if I don’t have any documents I can use?

There are aditional procedures in place to help customers who cannot provide the preferred documents.  You can talk to a member of staff about the sorts of documents you can produce.  If you are unsure please contact the office.
