The current global Coronavirus pandemic, Covid-19, along with the suspension of flights to affected countries are already featuring as ruses being used by criminals to convince people to hand over information.
Criminals use many tactics to try and defraud people and convince them to hand over sensitive personal or financial information. The mode of attack remains the same; fraudulent text messages, phone calls and SMS texts are being reported by financial organisations. These could look they are from airlines, travel companies or the NHS.
Any communication received where personal information is requested should be treated with suspicion, and where unsure you should never hand over personal information or click on links in texts or emails.
